Images from DVDs

From: Donna Magner (donutz716@yahoo.com) | Date: 2005-09-03 20:00:45 UTC-07:00
Does anyone know if there is a way to play a DVD on the computer, pause the DVD and print the image? There are so great images in some movies that I would like to carve, but I don't have the artistic talent to draw these wonderful images on to rubber. I've search the internet and can't find the images - for example - the Ark of the Covanent in the Raiders of the Lost Ark. (my second favorite advneture movie) I found a distant image, but the one in the movie is superb! Any help would be appreciated.

Enjoy!

I don't know how you can do
that, freezing the image.
But here is a link to a jpg
that may work for you. You
will prob. have to copy and
paste it because the whole
link never shows up
clickable for me, just part
of it. Here it is:

If you have a converter you can run the DVD scene through and change it to a movie
format. I use iMovie and an ADS Pyro A/V Link converter. Then in iMovie there is a
command to "save frame". It saves it as a jpeg file. I am sure there are other programs that
can do the same.

EASIER - if the image quality isn't so important - take a digital photo of it on the TV or
computer screen and use that image. Should work just fine for small pictures used for
stamps and is so much easier.

You could go really lo-tech, and play the DVD on your computer. When
you get to the frame you want, pause the DVD, hit the Print Screen
button, and paste the image in the graphics editor of your choice.

What about when its playing, you pause it, and hit printscreen. Then
open a word program and paste the image. I know thats the way you can
screen capture on webcams, so it shouldn't be any different.

Anyone who's trying to do this with a Mac (three cheers!) will find it doesn't work
for some inexplicable reason. However, I have found a little app, free download,
called Screenshot Pro, that will allow you to do this. There may be a PC version as
well. Funhog
